Hi everyone!
I’ve received a lot of great questions from you all. Here are some of the most common ones. I’ll keep adding more over time.
What is a time-lapse?
A time-lapse is created by capturing a sequence of images over a period of time and combining them into a video. When played back at normal speed, time appears to move faster, making slow processes like plant growth visible and engaging.
What do you do with the plants after filming?
I usually transplant most of them into the garden. Some stay in pots as houseplants, and I give a few away. A lot of them have already finished their life cycle by then, too.
What lights do you use?
I use LED grow lights for all of my plants. They provide consistent, energy-efficient lighting that supports healthy growth. For the specific lights I’m currently using, please check the linked page.
Do you keep the lights on all the time?
Most of the time, yes. However, I do turn them off occasionally between scenes or to mimic natural day-night cycles, depending on the plant’s needs.
What soil do you use?
I mainly use an all-purpose potting mix. For plants with specific requirements, I create custom soil blends. You can find details about my current soil mixes on the linked page.
What camera do you use?
I use both DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Both work well for time-lapse photography, though they often require additional accessories like intervalometers, tripods, or external power sources.
How many cameras do you run at once?
Typically around 10 cameras at the same time.
Where do you buy your seeds?
I usually buy seeds from local home improvement stores and grocery stores. For rare varieties, I shop online; but be cautious, as there are many sellers offering low-quality or fake seeds.
That’s all for now! If you don’t see your question here, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer it.
