What Music I Use For Time-lapse Videos

Plants may move slowly, but in time-lapse, they dance. The right music turns a visual marvel into an emotional journey. I often spend several minutes to observe the plants in my time-lapses to look for a good fit track. Sometimes I’ll lean into minimal piano pieces to underscore simplicity and growth. Other times, a jazz or a dance track will make the plant growth by the beat.

Some of My Favorite Music

I’m not limit myself to specific types of music but I do have some favorite:

  • Acoustic: Warm, earthy, and human, acoustic tracks bring a sense of simplicity and closeness that pairs beautifully with slow, delicate growth scenes.
  • Jazz: Sometimes a little groove is all you need. Smooth jazz or mellow swing can give a time-lapse a playful, classy vibe, especially when a plant’s movements feel rhythmic or expressive. It’s like watching nature improvise.
  • Ambient & Atmospheric: Perfect for seedlings and subtle growth. These tracks let the visuals breathe and feel almost meditative.
  • Cinematic Piano: Gentle piano melodies give emotional weight to moments of bloom or transformation.
  • Nature-Inspired Instrumentals: Tracks with acoustic guitar, light percussion, or natural sound effects help us bridge the digital and organic worlds.
  • Lo-fi Beats: For a more contemporary vibe, lo-fi adds a layer of chill that resonates with urban gardening or indoor plant setups.

What Library Do I Use

At the first start I use YouTube music library, it has lot of good and free songs. I would recommend for everyone with a low budget to start from here.

Later, when the channel started to grow, I move to Epidemic Sound because

  • Massive of high-quality tracks with every types of music, I need for my time-lapse videos.
  • All the music is pre-cleared for digital use. That means, I can use the music every where online, which is crucial when I’m sharing my videos across platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and website.
  • Their interface lets me search by mood, genre, or even “theme,” which is perfect when I’m trying to match a track with a particular plant’s energy.
  • Create your own length version
  • Lots of sound effects ready to use

At the heart of every time-lapse I produce is a love for nature’s quiet brilliance. Music helps me communicate that awe to you. It guides the viewer’s emotion, sets the rhythm, and turns something scientific into something soulful.
